Twenty years ago, Mary Edwards would have never imagined her creativity would land her in the middle of owning a successful business. After taking a few decorative painting classes, Mary knew she had found her niche. At local craft fairs, she began selling her painted crafts. Eventually, Mary began teaching decorative painting classes.
A couple of years after moving to Waynesville, NC, Mary purchased the Craft Collection. Almost single handedly, Mary runs the business with only the help of a few friends and her two children. Mary is well known for her imaginative displays and her constantly changing shop. All home furnishings and gift items offered in the Craft Collection are hand picked by Mary. Yet, her prices are often lower than the big-box retailers. Mary emphasizes, “I always want my customers to feel comfortable with the prices in my shop.”
What started out as a passion became her life’s work, but Mary sees it as more pleasure than business. Muffin, the Craft Collection mascot is always there to give a little extra “Shih Tzu-style” love to every customer. .
